Kimball Area
Kimball began as a railroad construction camp. Because of large herds of pronghorn in the area the new village was called Antelopeville. In 1885, the settlement was renamed for railroad executive Thomas Kimball. Kimball’s history is displayed downtown at the Plains Historical Museum.

Connecting communities in the rural panhandle area from the Wyoming line to North Platte along I-80 and up Hwy 71 to Scottsbluff. KCTS also provides transportation from the Denver International airport to any destination in the southern panhandle of Nebraska.
Lincoln Highway National Historic Byway
HWY 30
The Lincoln Highway (HWY 30) was the United States' first transcontinental highway. The highway traces historic routes followed first by Native Americans and also sections of the Mormon and Oregon Trail. In 2021, this byway was designated as a National Scenic Byway.
